Originally from Silver Spring, Maryland and based predominantly in Eurasia since 2000, Matt joined ECFO Services in February of 2009. He heads up ECFO’s project team, focused primarily on financial modeling, due diligence and other advisory services. 

Matt graduated from Dickinson College in 2002 with a BA in Russian Language and Literature and Russian Area Studies. In 2002 and 2003, he conducted field research on Local Government in Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan as a Fulbright Scholar. From 2003 through 2006, Matt worked for the Urban Institute, a Washington D.C.-based policy think tank, first in Tashkent on a housing policy reform project and later in Osh, Kyrgyzstan on an economic development project. In 2007, Matt returned to the US to attend the Thunderbird School of Global Management, from which he graduated in 2009 with an MBA in Global Finance.

At ECFO, Matt has worked on over a dozen transactions, including: (1) valuation reports for an IPO on the Mongolian Stock Exchange and for an auto parts manufacturer in joint venture negotiations; (2) financial modeling for a QSR group, a sustainable flatware company, an auto parts manufacturer and an apparel and footwear distributor; (3) due diligence and internal audit projects in a variety of industries – canned food, food extracts, pipe manufacture, fasteners, online services and home appliance components. Matt has also consulted on numerous other projects, including budgeting, tax optimization, transfer pricing, forensic accounting, operations optimization, financial statement analysis and restatement of financials.

Matt has lived in Eurasia for 13 years, including 5 years in China. Matt is fully bilingual in English and Russian. He is professionally functional in Mandarin and Turkish and speaks basic Uzbek.
